Northland Welcomes New Soccer Coach

Change is never easy. We are so grateful for Coach Matt Hotchkin and his service, discipleship, and personal investment into our men's soccer team over the last five years. We wish him the very best as he moves on from Northland at the end of this year. We will miss him and his family greatly!

When we began to pray and search for our new soccer coach, we thought it would be ideal to find a pastor that not only knew the game well, but more importantly, who would shepherd our team spiritually. It wasn't long after these thoughts were enunciated that God brought Pastor Andrew Scott from Denver, CO, to our attention.

Andrew is a student of the game of soccer, but more than that, he is a student of the Word. He was an All-American at Northland under Coaches Jim Phillips and Josh Beers. His athletic and ministry experiences, however, go far beyond the campus of Northland. He was privileged to score two goals in one game for the Colorado Rapids in the MLS and used that experience as a means to share the Gospel with many professional soccer players. His soccer resume is outstanding, but his heart for spreading the Gospel and discipleship are the real draw for us.

Pastor Andrew Scott believes God wants him to take up the ministry mantle as our men’s soccer coach here at Northland. He and his family will be joining us soon. I ask that you praise the Lord with me for His answer to our prayers in providing someone to continue in the ministry that Coach Hotchkin has faithfully served.

Your Friend and Fellowservant,
Matt Olson
