Northland Celebrates 29th Commencement |
Be Great, Serve
This was the message woven throughout the last two days of the 2008 school year at Northland Baptist Bible College. As guests arrived on the evening of May 9, they joined the student body for a spiritually uplifting Spring Concert entitled “An Anchor for the Soul,” which focused on Christ as the power behind our service. The following morning at 10:00 a.m., Northland held its 29th commencement for 155 candidates—conferring Associate degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, Master of Arts degrees, Master of Ministry degrees, and several Doctor of Sacred Ministry degrees. These graduates were challenged from God’s Word by Dr. Dan Davey and encouraged by the testimonies of fellow students. Dr. Davey’s message focused on Revelation 21 and 22, challenging students to overcome—by not denying the faith. Before each student stepped off the platform, he or she was handed a towel which reads, “Be Great, Serve.” Northland’s desire is that this towel will remind each graduate of the greatest servant of all—Christ—who set the example of servanthood by washing the feet of his followers. Northland Baptist Bible College desires to send out graduates who possess a passionate spirit to serve God and a humble spirit to serve others.
